Yogyakarta – For the past 20 years, Aminudin alias Udin (54) has been a barber in front of the palapa hall of the North Alun-alun PDHI Building in Yogyakarta. One of his clients praise him for cutting hair under the shade of the beringin tree and the soothing wind.

"Andri often comes to this place, the atmosphere is good here, it’s cool and refreshing," said Andri when met with detikJateng, (January 1, 2023).

Andri is satisfied with the price he pays for getting his hair cut by Udin. In addition, he is pleased with the results.

"Besides, it’s very cheap here, usually around Rp 25,000, but here it’s only Rp 10,000. The result is also exceptional, very neat and tidy," said Andri.

Andri also praised Udin’s long years of experience as a barber. He has been cutting hair for thousands of heads and has mastered the craft.

Udin receives his clients warmly. Currently, he is the only barber left in Alun-alun Utara Jogja who still operates his business.

Initially, there were four barbers at the location, but three of them have retired and only Udin is still operating. He expressed his gratitude to his wife, who advised him to set up his barber shop under the beringin tree.

"I started here when my wife was still alive. She told me to try setting up my barber shop under the beringin tree in Alun-alun. There were already three of us, but in the end, I was the only one left," said Udin.

There are still people who come to his barber shop, even though he is getting old. Perhaps due to his children’s advice, he has slowing down and can avoid any problems.

"There have been people who have passed away (barbers), perhaps because they’re too old and their children have advised them to stop working. But here, there’s no problem because I’m already old," said Udin.
